The method of erecting steel structure columns is mainly determined by the building's height, structural type, and design requirements. Common methods include the upright method, the inclined method, and the cross-joining method.

 

The upright method is suitable for smaller single-story steel structure buildings or lower-level multi-story buildings. This method fixes the steel column to the ground through pre-embedded bolts at its base, ensuring the building's stability and safety. The advantages of the upright method are simple construction, aesthetic appeal, and column stability. However, it is not suitable for high-rise buildings because it cannot withstand the forces of natural disasters such as earthquakes, posing safety hazards.

The inclined method is a column erection method designed for high-rise buildings. This method requires the column to be inclined at a certain angle, forming an inclined stabilizing system through diagonal bracing to enhance the building's earthquake resistance. The inclined method is suitable for high-rise or super high-rise buildings and can effectively cope with natural disasters such as earthquakes. However, this method is more difficult to construct, has a longer construction period, and requires strict control of the inclination angle and the number and location of diagonal bracing to ensure the building's stability.

 

The cross-joining method is a beam-type connection method for steel structure columns, mainly used in frame structures or locations where the lifting load is easily moved. The bridging method connects columns together using steel beams, forming a stable grid structure. This method offers advantages such as structural stability, applicability to various building types and locations, and good resilience and safety. However, it is also more difficult to construct, requiring consideration of steel material calculations and beam load-bearing capacity, as well as reinforcement of the connection points at the joints for stability.

 

When constructing steel structure columns, the necessary materials must be prepared, such as columns, foundation bolts, angle irons, screws, and anti-corrosion coatings. High-strength steel should be used for the columns, and the base must have mounting holes. Before installation, ensure the flatness and verticality of the foundation, using tools such as levels to adjust the column's tilt and verticality. During installation, strict adherence to safety regulations is required; safety helmets and safety belts must be worn to prevent accidents such as falls from heights. Simultaneously, the surface of the steel structure columns must be coated with anti-corrosion paint to prevent rust and corrosion, ensuring the building's safety and durability.

 

In conclusion, there are various methods for constructing steel structure columns; the appropriate method should be selected based on the specific circumstances.
